Registration Now Open for Summer 2024!

We started doing Garden Concerts as a lockdown thing because we couldn't play indoors, but they have become the highlight of our year. It's so lovely to play in such a relaxed and intimate setting, and we'd love to share it with you this summer. For this we need some hosts! Would you be interested in hosting a concert? Registration is currently open!

Do you want to have a live concert in your garden?

Yes?

Please read the guidance and fill out the form below.

If you have any questions at all, please get in contact, either by email or through the form.

What's so great about a Garden/ Living Room Party?

  1. They are wonderfully intimate way of sharing music

  2. They are relaxed and friendly - everyone gets to talk to each other (including us!)

  3. Each one is a completely unique experience

We are pretty sure our audiences love them as much as we do. Here is some feedback we got:

"Do you realise what you've done here? This kind of magic is something that only happens two or three times in a lifetime." - Hugh (Audience member, Scotland 2021)

"We continue to rejoice, celebrate and recall the hours you spent making the world a much better place. You created such wonderful sounds for our total enjoyment." - Christine (Host, London 2021)

Do you have what it takes to be a host?

You need:

  1. A garden, outside or inside space big enough for us to perform and between 20-80 people to congregate safely.

  2. To be excited about the idea of having us play live!

    That’s it…

What we need from you:

  1. Decide how many people you can safely fit in your garden or room.

  2. Together we will find a date that works for everyone.

  3. You are in charge of the audience. Invite your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. If they are not into ‘classical music’, coax them with promises of folk, world music, snacks, beer, banter, and something a bit different. (Offer snacks and beer at your own discretion) This is your chance to fly the flag for live music! For us to break even we usually need a minimum of 20 people to come. We recommend between 20-60 people.

  4. If you want to provide refreshments for the audience you are welcome to, but it is not a requirement. We tend to encourage BYOB.

  5. Let us know if you have any specific music requests. This is your party after all!

  6. We are accepting applications from 'teams', where friends or neighbours have teamed up to share the organising and ensure there will be a big enough audience. If you would like to do this, just put in the details of the rest of your team in the text of the form so we can keep everyone in the loop.

What happens at a Garden/ Living Room Concert?

  1. You can choose the time of your party - daytime or evening, it’s up to you. We will play two sets of around 45 minutes each. The whole party will be 2-3 hours long.

  2. We will arrive and set up a few hours before hand. We will bring a violin, keyboard, all the relevant wires and cables, and a gazebo to play under to protect us from sun and rain.

  3. It’s Pay What You Feel. As the host, you do not need to pay anything - you are providing everything else!

FAQs

  1. Are children welcome? Yes! Everyone is welcome. Don’t worry about kids being noisy and running around. That’s what kids do.

  2. What do we sit on? People can bring cushions and chairs, or stand and watch.

  3. Does it have to be a garden? No, we are open to performing anywhere, outdoors or indoors as long as we have permission and you can get an audience. Just contact us if you have a cool idea of where to play!

  4. How many people should I invite? We recommend 20-60 people. We need at least 20 to make any sort of profit, and more than 60 loses the gorgeous intimacy of the event. It also depends on how much space you have.

  5. Can it still happen if it rains? Yes! We will be under a gazebo to protect the instruments, so can still perform in bad weather. We are British, so brollies and raincoats should do the trick for the audience! Last year some hosts used gazebos for the audience, but that is at your discretion and definitely not a requirement.

  6. Is this a public concert? No. This is a private event. This makes things much simpler both for licensing and security. Only people you invite can come.

  7. How does the payment work? The concert is pay-what-you-feel, which means that we invite everyone to pay what they can at the end. This should be based on how much people enjoyed themselves combined with how much they are able to give. We accept card or cash. We will bring a card machine with us which we will connect through your Wi-Fi.

  8. This sounds great, how do I register? Just fill out the registration form below. We will be in contact to discuss whether we can make the dates work.

  9. How do you decide who gets to host? It will be a first come first served policy. We are offering our Patreon members priority, but hopefully everyone who wants a concert can have one.

  10. I want to do it but there are some things I’m not sure about. Can I get in touch to ask you about it? Yes! Either email us on lantivetduo@gmail.com or fill in the form below.
